— Every week, I spend one day exploring new art shows around town. The shows are hand picked by myself so it’s a personal taste and connections, so it’s not a comprehensive list of any sort. If you are into similar type of art, then it will be most helpful to you as a guide around Melbourne and other places I visit. Here you will find a list of all latest art walk posts

Here are the list of galleries I’m visiting this Saturday, I have managed to visit most of the planned shows, missed few and saw some other ones along the way.

Reviews will be posted shortly after the visit 🙂
Last Saturday was one of my most productive gallery day. I visited 6 shows in one evening and checked out a live painting at the end of the night. Some of these shows are just eye popping good. Below are some highlights from my visit.

It’s been a while since I have visited Craft Victoria, every time I step into their gallery space, the sense of raw material always fascinates me. Everything here gives a less polished appeal, and they really make you think about the process, the craft behind these objects. More images here.

Lisa Sewards is having a show at Forty five downstairs and she has works across painting, installation, video and photography. I was amazed by how many medium she had worked with to create this environment. More photos of the show here.

No Vacancy Gallery is at it again! They always manage to get the public dip their toes into the wonderful world of art and design, and who doesn’t like to look at a bunch of cute bunnies? Lepus Australis has curated this cute little show from all illustrators alike, Frankie style. More photos here.

I went to this show because it looked so good on Facebook, the show itself was breath taking! I was surprised when I found out the artist is only 30, Michael Gallop is quite a master at his age already! When I was working in Fitzroy few years ago, I constantly walked pass Australian Galleries, but never stepped foot inside the space, so much I have missed out! Lots of photos here.

I discovered this show via a friend’s friend, two brothers doing amazing illustrated work. Keelan & Ben Ashton-Bell at Gallery #9. I loved the vibe in Gallery #9, what do you think? Is it appropriate for my work?  More photos of the opening night here.

The night ended with a living painting by Rus Kidd at Revolver upstairs. I have seen his work here and there, and the image really sticks. Painting at a place like Revolver upstairs also make it look way cooler. Gonna love live painting, it allows visual artists to do gigs like musicians. More photos here.
