ART WALK 9 Nite art walk edition – Part 1

– Every week, I spend one day exploring new art shows around town. The shows are hand picked by myself so it’s a personal taste and connections, so it’s not a comprehensive list of any sort. If you are into similar type of art, then it will be most helpful to you as a guide around Melbourne and other places I visit. Here you will find a list of all latest art walk posts

I didn’t plan much for last week’s art walk, because the biggest art walk event was happening in town and there were an website did all that planning for me! Welcome to the magical night where 21 art galleries in city were open and all you need to do is to just walk in!

Flinders Lane Gallery

Surreal sculptures and highly technical paintings, sorry Flinders Lane, although you keep asking me to check out the photos on your website, I like to document it using my own eyes (my camera is the extension of my own eye). Very sorry for my stubbornness … Still love you as always for bring us visual goodies. You will find more photos about this show here.

If Claire Bridge ever runs an art class, I would definitely put up my hand to be her student. There has been times where I feel like I hit a limit to the amount of details I can paint in one image, and she managed to break through.

I have seen Jon Elseman’s work few times in few group shows, very poetic. A little serious to my liking though.

Daine Singer

Exciting new found! Daine Singer is in the same building as my friend’s office, didn’t realise last time I went there … Is this some kind of new trend now? A gallery at the bottom of an office building? Either way, it’s fine with me because a little bit of spirit boost is always good after work.

To be honest, I love Peter Davidson’s colourful “architects’ comics” than his late works. I almost wanted to buy his “comics” only to discover they are not for sale. How about a “comic book” Mr. Davidson?

Guess how many sketchbooks he has used? Well, I didn’t actually count, but here is a picture of his sketchbooks lined up in one straight line. Thanks to the savvy art goer, I have a pretty hand to model for me too. More photos here.

Alright, I will stop here, for now. My fingers hurt from clicking and typing for the last 3-4 hours. (I did 3 blog posts today! Can you believe that?!) I will continue shortly in another post :)

Love and hugs,
Yeok
