New sketches for my debut solo show in Melbourne
New sketches for my debut solo show in Melbourne
Remember I had a group show at Off the Kerb Gallery in April? Well, I have now exhibited there twice (once many years ago before I start to realise I should paint more) and it feels like home for me.
The date is official, I’m having my first ever solo show in Melbourne this November, at Off the Kerbs Gallery. That means for the next few months I will be super busy with painting and preparations.
The last week was all about sketching. I dropped down a lot of ideas from the trip and I’m visualising them in details on yummy 250gsm stonehenge warm white paper. I really love warm colour in my paper so it doesn’t look too harsh.
Here are some shots of my sketches. Now I need to figure out the correct size for me to paint on. There will be more pieces for the show but they will be surprises!
During the process I felt the urge to go straight to panel for painting after finishing these sketches, but for a tight deadline I don’t have time to do things on the “mood”. After I finish with all these sketches, it felt great! I can now visualise the whole show in my head and start to paint!
