ART WALK No.4 (Melbourne) Rebecca Hastings at Flinders Lane Gallery, Lesley Kehoe Gallery, Polixeni Papapetrou at Centre for contemporary photography
— Every week, I spend one day exploring new art shows around town. The shows are hand picked by myself so it’s a personal taste and connections, so it’s not a comprehensive list of any sort. If you are into similar type of art, then it will be most helpful to you as a guide around Melbourne and other places I visit. Here you will find a list of all latest art walk posts
This week is about the galleries I visited 2 weeks ago. Sorry that there is a delay because I couldn’t write anything while I was in Queensland. Plus tomorrow I will be spending all day preparing for Channel G, I’m gonna do some pretty weird stuff on camera from 9pm (28 June 2013)
You will get to see everything from Brisbane next week I promise!
First stop was Rebecca Hastings at Flinders Lane Gallery. It’s rare to see a sold out show these days and her paintings are truly perfect. It proofs realism is not dead with photography, people still appreciate paintings with great techniques. I have taken few more detail shots in this show, along with other artworks found in the same space.

It’s the first time I visited Lesley Kehoe Gallery, they have a bunch of super tiny sculpture crafted out of natural objects. The gallery stopped me from taking photo before I went further, so these are all I have got. It’s very rare for gallery not allowing photograph these days, I just don’t see the fuss, I mean, pictures will be all over internet anyways, and it’s a great way to promote the artworks right?

The last show we visited was at Centre for Contemporary Photography. It also had a no photograph policy so I only have this tiny iPhone photo I have taken from one of my favourate photographers: Polixeni papapetrou. You can find all her works online anyways 🙂 Funny both Polixeni and Rebecca use square format. Here are my shot of the gallery from outside in case you haven’t been there.

So I will be writing about my adventure from Brinsbane. Stay tuned!
