ART WALK 9 Nite art walk edition - Part 2
ART WALK 9 Nite art walk edition – Part 2
— Every week, I spend one day exploring new art shows around town. The shows are hand picked by myself so it’s a personal taste and connections, so it’s not a comprehensive list of any sort. If you are into similar type of art, then it will be most helpful to you as a guide around Melbourne and other places I visit. Here you will find a list of all latest art walk posts
This is the second part of Nite art walk edition, read the part 1 here. After the always fabulous Flinders Lane and new favourite Daine Singer, I went to few more places, here are few highlights
Beam contemporary
Beam contemporary is a cute little space in Guildford Lane. You do have to climb the stairs, so you can lift your spirit and on the way to visual enlightenment. There was a projection space downstairs for digital work, but I can’t remember whether it’s part of it. More photos here.
There is currently a group show on: Kevin Chin, Aimee Fairman, Lucy Griggs. I did some research on Kevin Chin, his works are very diverse, from sculpture, installation to paintings, and he often put the same medium into a different context. He also embrace his asian culture background, which is something I’m yet to find a way to communicate in my artworks.
Lucy Griggs has a impressive CV, I can’t show you how fine she can draw in the photograph, it’s probably better for you to see in person.
Aimee Fairman‘s sculpture reminded me of human organ, DnD miniature landscape
West space
I have been to West space for few times now, even did a live show there once called “sweet dishes”. It was me eating odd stuff (including a balut) within 15 mins time span with a giant tooth on top of my head. The footage was too long to watch and I haven’t edited it yet, maybe I will re shoot it one day… just one day…
I saw Agnes So mirroring herself slightly differently on the same dining table (what’s with girls vs performance vs eating and drinking)
The other highlight was this shell covered husky, I thought that looked pretty cool.
There was also a mattress somewhere, see more photos of the show here.
Sincerely,
Yeok
