ART WALK 10 Melbourne
ART WALK 10 Melbourne
— Every week, I spend one day exploring new art shows around town. The shows are hand picked by myself so it’s a personal taste and connections, so it’s not a comprehensive list of any sort. If you are into similar type of art, then it will be most helpful to you as a guide around Melbourne and other places I visit. Here you will find a list of all latest art walk posts
This week’s schedule
16:00 – 3 shows at Rubicon ARI, 309 Queensberry street, Melbourne
19:00 – The Contemporary Vessel as Container and Metaphor at Brunswick Street Gallery
19:30 – Ryan Mcgennisken Opening “Along a field of lost marbles” at House of Bricks, 40 Budd st, Collingwood
20:30 – Parametric Space by Kit Webster at Dark Horse Experiment, 110 Franklin Street, Melbourne
Rubicon ARI
I heard about this new gallery a while ago and never had a chance to visit them. Melbourne weather didn’t make this visit particular easy for me. The gallery is upstair of a semi hidden entrance.
The gallery feels like a maze, keep walking and you will find all three small gallery spaces.
I thought the bagged banana was quite interesting, must have taken a lot of effort to sew this. Really reminded me of China, they use this kinda bag a lot to carry large amount of stuff when people move from city to city.
A friend took me to Brunswick gallery after dinner, there was a group show by craft cube. I almost didn’t recognise the seven sea‘s work, but here they are, love them.
Friend’s friend Becky Richards is have a mini show Mapping the Ordinary
I made it to Ryan Mcgennisken‘s solo show at House of Bricks, he has some installation going on in the show, which adds a little more experience to the show. I have seen Ryan doing all sort of shows for the past few months. It’s the first time I visit his show, really glad to see someone putting a lot of effort into his art. The magical part is I’m going to have a group show with him and few other awesome artists in Sep!
We made it to Dark Horse Experiment at last, I didn’t take a photo of the show, but I was more excited to discover the studio space at the back of the gallery. There were about at least 7 artists working in there, it was quite fun looking at their space. A little too chaotic for me but it’s definitely awesome to pay a visit.
