After many years of painting, drawing and craft work Jennifer began botanical art in 1996, under the guidance of Jenny Phillips at the Melbourne School of Botanical Art. Her lifelong interest in gardening and art came together in a happy marriage in this artistic branch of natural science. In the same year she exhibited for the first time in the selected biennial exhibition "The Art of Botanical Illustration" which is held at the Melbourne Botanical Gardens. She has continued to exhibit there since. In 2007 Jennifer's work was selected for inclusion in The Highgrove Florilegium. This is a project in which botanical artists from around the world were invited to submit paintings of plants which grow in the gardens at Highgrove, the residence of His Royal Highness, The Prince of Wales. Paintings to be included in the collection were then selected from those submitted by the artist. This collection of work has been assembled under the umbrella of The Prince of Wales Trust and any funds raised as a consequence support the work of the Trust. In 2008 she was awarded the Celia Rosser Medal for Botanical Art by the Friends of the Royal Botanical Gardens in Melbourne. This award is presented to an artist who has reflected the excellence of Celia Rosser in their own botanical art. Jennifer has taught for Adult Education in Launceston for over 10 years and enjoys being able to encourage others to share her passion for botanical art. She has exhibited in many group and solo exhibitions in Tasmania, Melbourne and Sydney. Her art work is represented in collections in Australia and overseas.
