Karen was born in Melbourne Australia. From her early childhood she has always loved drawing and has had a particular interest in plants She started work after graduating from High School in the Photographic industry and then left full time employment in 1970 to raise her two children. Karen later followed her passion for drawing by enrolling in the Drawing Department of Victoria College and graduated with a Bachelor of Art (Fine Art) in 1989. Her graduating Folio was a series of watercolours of Cacti that was subsequently shown as a solo exhibition in 1990 at the “Blaxland Gallery” situated in Myer Melbourne. Karen resumed full time employment as a photographic retoucher in 1994. In 2004 Karen left work to devote herself to drawing. In 2006 she joined the Botanical Illustration classes at the Royal Botanical Gardens Melbourne and had work selected for: “The Illustrated Garden” 2006/2008. “Art of Botanical Illustration” in 2006. “Art of Botanical Illustration” in 2008. “Canberra Botanical” 2008. “Canberra Botanical” 2009. “Art of Botanical Illustration” in 2010. "Art of Botanical Illustration" in 2012. "Art of Botanical Illustration" in 2014. "Sydney Botanica 2013" Karen also has works in private collections.
