Heather Simkin

Heather Simkin graduated as a Primary School teacher and later acquired a Diploma of Fine Art, majoring in fibre and ceramics. Born in Melbourne, she has taught in State Schools in Melbourne, Australia and Toronto, Canada then at Eltham College until her retirement. Since then she has been teaching English to Chinese High School Students and also to the staff of the Guangzhou Children and Maternity Hospital. She met Jenny Phillips during a Student-in-Residence programme at Eltham College and subsequently enrolled with the Botanical Art School of Melbourne. She has participated in group exhibitions at Villa Mulberry, the Botanical Art School of Melbourne, The Art of Botanical Illustration at Royal Botanic Gardens, Melbourne, The Flockton Award, Botanica 2012, at the Sydney Botanical Gardens, Wiregrass Gallery, Eltham and at Bendigo Art Gallery. Her work is represented in corporate and private collections, including the State Botanical Collection of Victoria and the Nillumbik collection.
