Marta Salamon

I have been painting as a Botanical artist since the early 1990’s and since then have participated in every exhibition of The Art of Botanical illustration. My work has twice been selected to represent this exhibition and a number of my images have been used as cards and in calendars for The Friends of the Royal Botanic Gardens. My work is also represented in the collection of the National Herbarium in Melbourne and in private collections throughout Australia and overseas. I get immense pleasure from studying the plants which I paint and am extending this interest to other aspects of habitat in which these plants occur, specifically the nests of birds and the insects which are pollinators. Since I live in the Dandenong Ranges, plants from the Ranges, both native and exotic, are featured in my work as well as trees which I have observed during my stay as Artist in Residence in Western Australia.
