Rita Parkinson

I love being a botanical artist, I am part of an international art community. The genre has re-invented itself in recent years, with exciting new ways of contemporary practice. This renewal is in some ways driven by the present interest in environmental issues and a new appreciation of the materials and techniques of the past. The work presented here is part of a series – Marine Life of Port Phillip Bay. It is a red Algae found at St Leonards on the Bellarine Peninsular I have recently been exploring the digital world and all the wonderful opportunities it can deliver us to promote our view to ever wider audiences. At the moment this interest is centred on publishing a book called: ‘THE BOTANICAL ART FILES A Guide to Composition’ The book aims to give botanical art students some of the advantages that a typical design course would provide.
