Pam McDiarmid

Pam McDiarmid trained as an art teacher, but followed a different career and maintained artistic pursuits as hobbies only. These included textile/embroidery compositions, glass blowing and the major craft of wood: furniture construction, woodturning and carving, and making musical instruments. All her life she has enjoyed a love of gardening and landscaping, in particular the combinations of form, colours and textures of plants and flowers. Pam particularly enjoys trying to capture the essence and beauty of plants in paintings using the technique she considers will complement each particular subject best. Mastering techniques of new mediums such as watercolour, linocuts and wood engraving continue to provide a stimulating artistic challenge. The underlying connection between all these artistic pursuits is her desire to enjoy the process of creativity and to produce objects of truth and beauty in whatever medium she is using. Pam has presented textiles, woodcraft and botanical art at public exhibitions and has a number of works in private collections.
