Jennifer Beck Carlson was born in Holland and ever since first sighting an Iceland Poppy and picking its furry stem at the age of five, she has had a love and passion for flowers. Her early art began with daydreaming and enjoying drawing at her rural primary school. Jennifer says she can remember all the times she was given flowers or the interesting plants that grew in her grandmothers garden. Her work can be described as delicate and she handles colour with great sensitivity. Jennifer has studied Fine Art and completed a Bachelor of Arts at Deakin University. Her recent studies have been undertaken with the guidance of Jenny Phillips. Jennifer is not prolific but her works reflect a strong desire to capture the charm and luminous qualities that flowers seem to have. Despite this her works have found their place in international collections and are eagerly collected. Jennifer has won the 'best pastel' prize at the Birregurra Art Show, has been in numerous group and solo exhibitions including: Nature's Small Wonders and Eucalypts 2011; Botanica 2012 and 2014 Sydney; and the Royal Melbourne Botanical Art Show 2012. Her paintings have also been used in several publications.
