Crystal Lizard

Within a safe distance, the boy crawled toward me and handed me the other end of the leash. That was when I realised the leash was not secured to the wall at all.

I wasn’t sure what to do in such a situation, so I decided to play along and take the leash from his hand. It was interesting what a simple gesture could do. My hand was connected to a metal chain, which now control the movement of another being. All of sudden, everything changed. That little fear remained had gone away and the leash magically transferred some sort of energy into my body. I felt a power, yet too much to be expressed all at once.
I could see his body was full of tiny scales. I could feel a chill coming towards me from his cold body. The cold worked perfectly with the glowing blue. Somehow that reminded me of the word “Winter Queen”. So I asked, “Why are you here?”

“I offered myself as an evangelist for the Winter Queen.”
“Interesting way to do it.” I laughed.
“I’m particularly good with ladies.”
“Yeah? Apparently.” I smiled, but I felt a little awkward so I didn’t make eye contact.

A pause.

“So what do you do as an evangelist?” I asked.
“I help everyone figuring out what they are here for.” The scaled boy looked up to me, his voice started to become submissive.
“And how exactly do you do that?” I asked.
“I know who they are, so I change myself to make the message clear to them.” As he spoke, his scales changed into a glowing purple, and back.
“That was cool.” I said, “What have you figured out about me so far?”
He paused for a little bit, and said, “You like to put things into order.”
“What do you mean by that? Like someone with OCD?”
“Yeah you could say that, but tidying things up is not what you are here for.” He smiled, “You are here to discipline all walks of life.”

It was a funny feeling when he said the word “discipline”, as I was holding the leash. I had a rough idea what it might be, and I decided to wait and see if I was correct.

I demanded, “Sit.”

He immediately lowered his back and sat on the floor, with his hands reaching to the floor ready for his next order. He smiled and said, “Winter queen has warned me about you, but I didn’t expect you to be learning so fast.”

“She wants you to discipline creatures of the underground palace.” He added.
“But why would I do that for her?”
“That you have to find out yourself. I heard she is planning a party, and she likes things to go a certain way.”
“Ok, I’m intrigued.”
“She wanted me to show you something” the lizard boy paused, “do I have your permission to show it to you?”
I almost forgot about the leash at that point until the word “permission” was mentioned. So I played along and said, “Of course, show me what she has for me.”
“You have to follow me then,” He started to crawl, “don’t let go of the leash, Miss.”

He started to crawl towards an exit, at the exit, I could see the floor was wooden, as opposite to the concrete floor previously. I followed him, until we were in front of a door. I could hear the noise of tiny movements behind it.

The lizard boy lifted himself up, to hold onto the door knob. He turned the knob and opened it. Of course, there were rats and mice, hundreds of them, crawling all over the room.

The lizard boy turn around and said, “Tonight, Winter Queen will come and see you, and she wants to see what you can do with these creatures.”
